Lepidopteras

I finished the watercolor display I made for my son Daniel's b-day.
The top picture is lit from the back...
I put it against a sunny window
and I love how the butterflies appear to be glowing.
This other picture was lit from the front.
Now all it needs is a nice shadow box frame.

A work in progress

Today I'm attempting to make
a faux butterfly display to give to my son Daniel
for his birthday in November.
I painted the butterflies with watercolors first,
then cut the wings with my X-acto knife
and folded them just slightly to give the effect
of a real mounted one.
I'm really happy with the result
but it turned out to be much more labor intensive
than I thought it would be...
I plan to frame it in a nice shadow box.

Remake

I made a little remake today
of two old illustrations of mine,
it's actually quite big compared to the typical size
I'm used to working on.
11 by 15 inches
It didn't fit my scanner so I had to photograph it to show you...
You can see the oldies here and here.

The way we were...

I found my fist two passports
going through a huge box of old pictures and ephemera
that is in desperate need of organization...
I love how I misspelled
my own name in the second one...and that my mom
didn't take off my fluffy hat on the first one
to take the passport photo :)
